Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago's Biologic Resources Laboratory seeks a Laboratory Animal Care Coordinator to supervise husbandry operations, ensure daily inspections, and coordinate staff in compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards.

Under veterinary supervision, the role manages animal care schedules, maintains accurate records, trains staff, and collaborates with researchers to support humane and efficient animal facilities at our Chicago campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of supervisory experience in an animal care facility required.
• LAT certification from AALAS required; LATG is preferred.
• Knowledge of federal regulations governing animal care facilities preferred.
• Experience training and supervising staff in a laboratory setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise husbandry operations and personnel in laboratory animal facilities.
• Oversee daily inspections of animals, equipment, and service areas for compliance.
• Direct facility users on operational activities and regulatory guidelines.
• Create work schedules for animal husbandry tasks and coordinate with protocols.
• Maintain records on environmental monitoring, animal inventories, and health records.
• Under veterinary supervision, manage animal treatment schedules and health records.
• Prepare SOPs for animal care, sanitation, and use of equipment.
