  • Directs resources to ensure efficient department function.
  • Travel to multiple sites to support operations and QA initiatives.
  • Assist with Process Improvement, Patient Experience and Mission Partner Experience.
  • Manage supply ordering, inventory control, and site needs maintenance.
  • Perform advanced phlebotomy procedures and staff training as needed.

Expected pay for this position is $19.35 - $21.78/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Lab EKG Technician, in addition to performing the standard duties of the Lab/EKG Technician role, oversees daily operations, monitors productivity, and makes recommendations to leadership regarding workflow optimization. This role directs and coordinates departmental resources to ensure efficient and effective departmental operations. The role requires frequent travel to various sites and assists in quality assurance (Q/A) programming as well as Process Improvement, Patient Experience and Mission Partner Experience initiatives. The role manages supply ordering, inventory control, and the maintenance and upkeep of site-specific needs. May work directly with other service modalities and/or physician offices and perform advanced phlebotomy procedures, including but not limited to recollection of difficult specimens, assisting with challenging draws, educating staff on advanced techniques, supporting the department Instructor(s) with demonstrations and training/competency of staff, and clerical and computer-related duties associated with laboratory operations.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma/ GED

Experience:

  • 1 year phlebotomist experience in a hospital or large clinic.

Licensure/ Certification:

  • Obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of hire.

Other Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative and effectively drives work forward in a self-directed, proactive manner.
  • Exhibits leadership by independently prioritizing tasks, solving problems, and ensuring goals are met without close supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Associate degree or certification in any of the following or other closely related disciplines:

Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician, Medical Office Assistant (MOA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Patient Care Technician (PCT)/PCL, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), healthcare studies, nursing, or American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification with other relevant experience.

Experience:

  • Phlebotomy experience within varied service lines: (inpatient, Nursing Home, Ambulatory, etc). Licensure/ Certification: Phlebotomist Certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), Phlebotomy Technician (PBT), Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT) or equivalent.
