OSF HealthCare is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support patient care through specimen collection, proper storage, and preparation for transport. You will perform point-of-care and quality testing to meet CAP/CLIA standards and review orders while maintaining accurate records and prioritizing patient identification and service excellence.
The role requires a high school diploma or GED and completion of OSF Phlebotomy class within 6 months of hire; preferred is prior phlebotomy experience.

Expected pay for this position is $18.27 - $20.29/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.
POSITION SUMMARY: The laboratory assistant plays a vital role in the care of our patients. Laboratory testing is an integral part of the delivery of care and the patient experience. The laboratory assistant performs specimen collection, is responsible for proper storage of specimens, prepares specimens for transport and performs all point of care testing and quality testing to meet College of American Pathologists (CAP)/Joint Commission and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) standards. The laboratory assistant must review provider orders and maintain up to date knowledge of new laboratory standards and information. The laboratory assistant is responsible for keeping accurate records, such as quality control and temperature monitoring in laboratory areas, and must be committed to patient identification and excellence in customer service.
