Job summary

ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation seeking a Lab Analyst III (MT/ASCP) to perform complex testing onsite in San Antonio, TX. You will lead technical activities, mentor staff, ensure QA and CAPA processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver study data with integrity.

The role requires a MT/MLS/MLT certification, 5+ years in regulated labs, and strong knowledge of GLP/GCP/GMP standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field).
• Current MT/ASCP, MLS/ASCP, or MLT/ASCP certification in good standing.
• 5+ years in a clinical research, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or other regulated lab environment.
• Advanced knowledge of lab methodologies, analytical techniques, instrumentation, regulatory requirements, and quality systems.
• Experience troubleshooting complex lab issues, validating processes, CAPA, and sponsor audits/regulatory inspections.
• Proficiency with LIMS and data analysis tools.
• Experience developing, reviewing, and maintaining lab documentation (SOPs, validation records, quality docs).
• Demonstrated experience as a technical lead, study lead, SME, or mentor in lab environments.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring abilities for staff.
• Working knowledge of GCP, GLP, GMP, CLIA, CAP, COLA, and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex laboratory testing, analyses, and troubleshooting according to procedures, regulatory requirements, and QA standards.
• Review, interpret, and evaluate lab results; provide detailed technical assessments to support studies and operations.
• Serve as SME for laboratory systems, methodologies, and instrumentation; provide guidance and support.
• Lead QA, method validation, and equipment qualification; investigate deviations and out-of-spec results.
• Drive continuous improvement to optimize workflows, improve data quality, and strengthen compliance.
• Collaborate with Clinical Operations, Data Management, QA, Project Management, and Sponsors to support study execution.
• Lead or support the implementation of new technologies, instrumentation, assays, and processes with proper validation and documentation.
• Author, review, and approve lab documentation including SOPs, validation protocols, deviation reports, CAPAs, and technical reports.
• Mentor and train junior lab staff; promote regulatory knowledge and best practices.
• Support inspection readiness and participate in audits and regulatory inspections as required.
• Act as lead analyst or lab coordinator for studies/projects to ensure timely deliverables.
