Job summary

FlightSafety Defense Corporation is seeking a JSE Cloud/Cyber architect to implement and verify JSE/SCARS‑compliant software for WST and Training Systems in a cloud environment. You will integrate simulation components, verify data models, and support SCARS compliance activities.

Under the JSE Project Lead, you will build DevSecOps pipelines, coordinate RMF/ATO activities, and participate in test events, with travel anticipated. A Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. Masters preferred.
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in simulation software development, system integration, or cloud systems engineering, preferably in a DoD training or defense context.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python and various other Cloud APIs for simulation software development, integration and deployment.
  • Hands‑on experience with software development tools including GitLab, JIRA, and CI/CD pipeline environments.
  • Proficiency in developing automated workflows in GitLab environment.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks like Ansible/Terraform.
  • Experience working with interface control documents (ICDs), interface design documents (IDDs), or similar technical specifications.
  • Ability to interpret technical standards and translate requirements into software implementations.
  • Strong written communication skills with ability to produce test reports, integration documentation, and compliance artifacts.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and containerized deployment environments.
  • Exposure to RMF, ATO processes, or DoD cybersecurity compliance activities.
  • Familiarity with MBSE methodologies or SysML-based tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler).
  • Active Secret clearance

Responsibilities

  • The JSE Cloud/Cyber architect integrates software/simulation components that connect FlightSafety training devices to the JSE via the GRID network protocol in a virtualized/cloud environment.
  • This includes implementing message production and consumption logic, and verifying correct integration against a common data model.
  • The engineer executes the test harness suite of service active tests and supports Wireshark packet capture to validate data flow between the simulator and middleware services.
  • The developer supports SCARS compliance activities, including applying OPE integration standards under the SCARS Architecture Standard, Increment 5, and contributing to verification activities.
  • The developer participates in Requirements Verification Report (RVR) activities and maintains traceability between implementation work and ICDs/IDDs.
  • The JSE Cloud/Cyber architect contributes to the implementation and operation of the internal JSE/SCARS integration lab — both virtual and classified — and builds DevSecOps pipelines for JSE/SCARS‑related software deliverables.
  • The developer also supports the application of cybersecurity controls in accordance with the SCARS Common Security Controls Standard and coordinates with the cybersecurity team on RMF compliance activities.
  • The JSE Cloud/Cyber architect works closely with the JSE Architect and Project Lead to interpret SCARS and JSE documentation, implement design patterns, establish infrastructure protocols and document integration results.
  • Travel to government test events is anticipated throughout the year.
