Job summary

FlightSafety Defense Corporation is seeking a JSE Cloud/Cyber architect to implement, test, and verify SCARS/JSE-compliant software across the WST and Training Systems portfolio for cloud deployment. You will work under the JSE Project Lead on integration tasks and develop secure, scalable solutions.

Ideal candidates have 4–8 years in simulation software development or cloud systems engineering, strong C++/Python skills, and experience with GitLab, JIRA, and IaC tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical discipline (Masters preferred).
• 4–8 years of experience in simulation software development, system integration, or cloud systems engineering (DoD context preferred).
• Proficiency in C++ and Python and cloud APIs for simulation software development, integration and deployment.
• Hands-on experience with GitLab, JIRA, and CI/CD pipeline environments.
• Proficiency in automating workflows in GitLab environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible/Terraform).
• Experience working with ICDs/IDDs or similar specs.
• Ability to translate requirements into software implementations.
• Strong written communication; able to produce test reports and compliance artifacts.
• Experience with virtualization and containerized deployment environments.
• Exposure to RMF, ATO processes, or DoD cybersecurity activities.
• Familiarity with MBSE or SysML-based tools (e.g., Cameo).
• Active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Integrate software and simulation components that connect flight training devices to JSE via GRID in a cloud environment.
• Implement message production/consumption and verify integration against a common data model.
• Run test harnesses and assist Wireshark pcap parsing to validate data flow between simulator and middleware.
• Support SCARS compliance activities including On Premise Equipment (OPE) integration standards under SCARS Increment 5.
• Maintain traceability between implementation work and ICDs/IDDs; participate in RVR activities.
• Contribute to the JSE/SCARS lab operations and build DevSecOps pipelines with version control, automated testing, and documentation per SCARS standards.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity team on RMF compliance; travel to government test events.
• Collaborate with the JSE Architect and Project Lead to interpret SCARS/JSE docs, implement patterns, and document results.
