Job description

Family owned machine shop is looking for a hands-on 2nd shift Lead Machinist. This individual will be responsible for leading the shop in CNC Machining, Mills, Lathes, etc. We are looking for a team player; a true contributor, eager to learn our business and assist with the management of daily operations on the shop floor.

2nd shift works Monday - Thursday 3 pm - 1 am.

Job Responsibilities:

• Keep all machinists on task (train if necessary) and provide direction.
• Quality control / inspection - must ensure employees follow through on inspection of parts throughout the process.
• Provide recommendations to Management regarding personnel decisions including staffing, evaluations, discipline, and compensation.
• Produce machining parts on intricate components with knowledge of Machining centers and/or Turning centers.
• Read and interpret routings and customer prints.

Proficiency necessary:

• Proficient knowledge of machining - lathes and mills, cutting tools, measuring tools, and gauging processes.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and planning skills.
• Minimum of 5 years of well-rounded machining experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work 2nd shift and more than 40 hours per week.
