Job description

Family owned machine shop is looking for a hands-on 2nd shift Lead Machinist. This individual will be responsible for leading the shop in CNC Machining, Mills, Lathes, etc. We are looking for a team player; a true contributor, eager to learn our business and assist with the management of daily operations on the shop floor.

2nd shift works Monday - Thursday 3 pm - 1 am.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Keep all machinists on task (train if necessary) and provide direction.
  2. Quality control / inspection - must ensure employees follow through on inspection of parts throughout the process.
  3. Provide recommendations to Management regarding personnel decisions including staffing, evaluations, discipline, and compensation.
  4. Produce machining parts on intricate components with knowledge of Machining centers and/or Turning centers.
  5. Read routings and customer prints effectively.
Proficiency necessary:
  1. Must have proficient knowledge of machining - lathes and mills, cutting tools, measuring tools, and gauging processes.
  2. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  3. Strong communication and planning skills.
  4. Minimum of 5 years of well-rounded machining experience preferred.
  5. High school diploma or GED required.
  6. Must be able to work 2nd shift and more than 40 hours per week.
