Job summary

IDR, Inc. is seeking a Lead Java Developer to guide the technical strategy for clinical system applications within a healthcare-focused organization. The role entails hands-on coding, mentoring engineers, and leading multi-team delivery in an Agile environment.

This long-term W2 contract offers a mostly remote arrangement with 3 days per month onsite in Downtown Denver. C2C or H1B transfers are not supported.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of experience leading technical teams or driving platform architecture.
• Experience with Google ADK and GCP cloud services (GKE, Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Datastore, Memorystore, Firestore).
• Development experience with Java and Spring Boot; Angular is a plus.

Job description

IDR is seeking a Lead Java Developer to join one of our top clients for a mostly remote opportunity. This role involves leading the overall technical strategy for clinical system applications within a healthcare-focused organization, ensuring high-quality delivery through collaboration with cross‑functional teams in an Agile environment.

** This is a long‑term W2 contract opportunity, with a strong potential to convert.

** Mostly remote | 3‑days / month onsite in Downtown Denver.

Position Overview for the Lead Java Developer:

• Drive the technical strategy and define engineering standards for multiple development teams working on clinical system applications.
• Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Provide hands‑on coding, technical guidance, and mentorship to engineering team leads.
• Lead complex integrations with external systems and third‑party vendors.
• Ensure adherence to best practices, review designs, troubleshoot issues, and support ongoing application maintenance.

Requirements for the Lead Java Developer:

• 7-10+ years of experience leading technical teams or driving platform architecture.
• Experience with Google ADK and GCP cloud services such as Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Datastore, Cloud Memorystore, and Cloud Firestore.
• Development experience with Java and Spring Boot; Angular experience is a plus.
• Strong hands‑on DevOps experience including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and operational support in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with microservice architecture principles and system architecture is a plus.
