Job summary

Egen is seeking a senior engineering leader to guide a team of application engineers and provide architectural direction across a portfolio of 500+ applications. You will drive design and development of production-ready Java services, containerization, and cloud migrations on Google Cloud Platform with GKE, while fostering robust testing, observability, and CI/CD practices.

Ideal candidates have strong Java/Spring Boot experience, hands-on Kubernetes, and a track record of mentoring engineers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS or related field.
• Strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience with application modernization, VM-to-container migration, and cloud deployments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of application engineers, providing technical guidance, architectural direction, code reviews, and support for complex engineering challenges.
• Design, develop, and maintain production-ready applications and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data, and RESTful APIs.
• Apply strong knowledge of microservices, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and cloud-native engineering principles to build scalable and resilient applications.
• Lead application assessment, containerization, and migration from VM-based environments to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), including application configurations, secrets management, runtime readiness, and test automation.
• Guide application deployment and troubleshooting in Kubernetes environments, including Docker containers, CI/CD pipelines, resource configurations, and application runtime issues.
