Job summary

The AES Group seeks an experienced Lead Software Engineer to drive cloud-native backend development using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS. You will guide architecture decisions, build scalable microservices, and mentor engineers to raise engineering standards.

You will lead design reviews, ensure reliable production systems, and collaborate across Product Owners, Architects, and engineering teams in a hybrid Chicago environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building enterprise backend applications.
• Technical leadership or team lead experience preferred.
• Degree not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of cloud-native Java applications on AWS.
• Build scalable microservices with Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
• Design RESTful APIs and event-driven services.
• Architect highly available distributed systems.
• Mentor engineers and establish development standards.
• Improve observability with logging, metrics, tracing.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Architects.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize performance.
• Lead architecture reviews and code reviews.
• Implement IaC, CI/CD, deployment automation.
