Job summary

CTRL + LLC, based in Elkridge, Maryland, is seeking a highly experienced Java Spring Boot developer to lead the modernization of a legacy system into a cloud-native microservices platform. This on-site role requires living within commuting distance of Annapolis Junction, MD, and an active TS/SCI with polygraph.

You will build Java Spring Boot microservices and Python-based optimizations in an Agile team. Responsibilities include creating REST services, implementing CI/CD with Maven and GitLab,

Work arrangement: On-site

Required Clearance: TS/SCI with polygraph

All positions require in-person work. Applicants must live within commuting distance of the listed work location to be considered. Some roles may allow limited telework, but regular on-site attendance is required. These are not fully remote positions.

Lead the build-out of Java Spring Boot microservices that replace a legacy system with a modern, cloud-native platform.

The mission

Help modernize a legacy operational system with a microservices architecture, AWS-native technologies and modern CI/CD.

What you’ll do

• Write Java Spring Boot microservices using AWS-native services


• Use Python to optimize Lambda, Step Functions, EC2 and S3


• Build Spring REST services that filter and select complex data


• Implement CI/CD with Maven, GitLab and GitOps


• Deliver software in an Agile team and collaborate with stakeholders

What you’ll bring

• 12 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (or a Master’s plus 10 years).


• Two or more of: Java, Spring Boot or Python


• JSON Schema


• Microservice architectures


• AWS tools, Maven, GitLab, GitOps, Kubernetes, Docker or Ansible


• MongoDB, DynamoDB or other NoSQL query and schema design


• OAuth/OIDC implementation


• Cypress and Cucumber test automation

Preferred qualifications

• Experience leading development on modernization efforts

Compensation and flexibility

$126.42–$139.59 per hour in approximate pay; employer 401(k) contribution is additional.

Compensation: The listed range reflects approximate hourly pay across our compensation models and excludes Ctrl+’s employer 401(k) contribution. Your hourly pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and the compensation model you select. The lower end reflects a no-bonus option with five weeks of PTO; the upper end reflects the Max Rate option without bonus or PTO.

Choose from three compensation models: Max Rate, With Bonus, or With Bonus and PTO. Offers include a projected five-year compensation comparison and a package comparison sheet. PTO and bonuses depend on the selected model and role eligibility.
