Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a nearshore Lead Java Full Stack Engineer with extensive experience in Commerce to support an AI-driven/Agentic Checkout initiative. You will build and maintain backend services for payment, loyalty, promotions, and other commerce domains, while enabling AI-driven checkout flows with robust validations.

The role requires 5+ years of backend Java/Spring Boot experience, frontend React.JS, and strong REST/microservices skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development with Java and Spring Boot.
• Frontend experience with React.JS.
• Proficient in REST APIs and microservices.
• Exposure to AI-assisted or agent-based workflows.
• Cloud experience with Claude Code Cloud on GCP and/or Azure.
• Willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Build and support backend services for payment, loyalty, promotion and other commerce domain systems
• Enable AI-driven checkout flows with proper validations and guardrails
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and compliance across commerce systems

Requirements

• Over 5 years of backend development experience with Java, Spring Boot
• Existing production experience in developing Front-End components with React.JS
• Proficiency in building REST APIs and microservices
• Exposure to AI-assisted or agent-based workflows and backend integrations
• Practical production experience with Claude Code Cloud experience with GCP and/or Azure
• A willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, patterns, and technologies
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher
• Nice to have CCA-F certification
