Job summary

Mondo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to anchor a team of 3-4, owning ~25 Java applications in an OpenShift/Kubernetes environment and guiding a large-scale modernization and cloud migration.

You will lead onshore and offshore engineers, drive Agile ceremonies, and troubleshoot across applications, containers, and AWS, while expanding GraphQL-based integrations and potentially TypeScript work as needed.

Qualifications

• 10 years of software engineering experience with a strong Java background and ownership of legacy applications.
• Hands-on technical lead experience, actively coding while managing a team of 3-5 engineers.
• Experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• AWS experience with networking concepts and service interactions.
• Kafka in a production environment.
• Strong GraphQL experience and ability to troubleshoot/extend GraphQL services.
• Agile experience including planning, story writing, and sprint management.
• Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 3-4 engineers, including offshore Java resources, through day-to-day Agile ceremonies.
• Own and maintain ~25 Java applications in an OpenShift cluster, serving as integration layer between core systems and file transfer platform.
• Assess migration status, identify remaining work, translate findings into actionable stories for the team.
• Modernize legacy applications, refactor and plan cloud migration.
• Troubleshoot issues across applications, containers, networking, and AWS infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to untangle tightly coupled legacy systems and coordinate dependencies.
• Work with GraphQL as the primary integration layer; potential TypeScript work as needed.
