Job summary

MassGenics, Inc. is seeking a Lead Java Developer / Hands-On Technical Lead to guide enterprise reporting and data integration projects. The role blends technical leadership with active coding across Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and PostgreSQL, while ensuring quality and on-time delivery.

The position is a 6+ month contract, full-time W2, largely remote with work in the New York area. You will mentor engineers, refine backlogs, and support production incidents and data workflows from SAP/non-SAP

Duration: 6 + Months Contract

Location : New York ( Remote role )

Position Overview

We are seeking a senior, hands-on Java Developer/Technical Lead to support enterprise reporting and data integration applications. This role will guide developers through technical design, backlog refinement, coding standards, code reviews, troubleshooting, and production support.

The ideal candidate is an experienced developer who can lead technically while remaining actively involved in development and delivery. This is not a purely strategic or people-management role.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical refinement and design analysis before sprint execution.
• Assess current-state applications and recommend optimization opportunities.
• Break down backlog items into clear technical tasks for development teams.
• Develop and support applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and PostgreSQL.
• Review technical designs, code, unit testing, deployment plans, and production changes.
• Establish and promote coding, quality, reuse, and performance standards.
• Identify and remediate technical debt, inefficient code, and data-quality issues.
• Provide hands‑on support during production incidents, troubleshooting sessions, and SRT calls.
• Mentor and guide developers while partnering closely with team members.
• Review data flows from SAP and non‑SAP sources into reporting applications.
• Support data validation, reconciliation, audit checkpoints, and the resolution of data mismatches.
• Collaborate with other squads that share enterprise reporting and data capabilities.
• Assist with federal and state reporting requirements and related application support.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience developing enterprise applications with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with Angular, REST APIs, SQL, and PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases.
• Demonstrated experience as a senior developer, technical lead, or team lead.
• Ability to guide a development team while remaining hands‑on technically.
• Experience with technical design, backlog refinement, code reviews, testing, and deployment support.
• Knowledge of data integration, ETL processes, and data quality practices.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues and supporting critical applications.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IBM DataStage or comparable ETL technologies.
• Familiarity with SAP and non‑SAP data sources.
• Experience supporting reporting platforms or regulated data environments.
• Knowledge of data reconciliation, audit controls, and reporting data validation.
• Experience working across multiple application or delivery squads.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a collaborative technical leader who can help the team work more efficiently, improve application quality, and provide hands‑on guidance throughout the software development lifecycle.

This position is only open to applicants who can be engaged on a W-2 basis. 1099 contractors and Corp-to-Corp arrangements will not be considered for this position.

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS

Pay Range*: Between $50 - $55/- per hour

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
