Job summary

System One is seeking a Lead Java Cloud Engineer to design and develop enterprise APIs in cloud environments, focused on AWS/EKS, API management, and scalable Java-based solutions. You will lead API development, collaborate across teams, and drive code quality and CI/CD practices.

The role emphasizes mentoring, architecture input, and delivery of high-visibility projects. Hybrid work in Reston, VA, with a 12-month contract and a strong emphasis on Java and Spring technologies.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Java development experience.
• Strong experience developing APIs in cloud environments, preferably AWS and EKS.
• Experience with cloud databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Experience onboarding and managing APIs through API Management platforms (IBM API Connect/APIC preferred).
• Strong knowledge of Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Integration.
• Experience with RESTful web services and SOA architectures.
• Experience with JUnit and/or TestNG.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Experience working in CI/CD and DevOps environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within technical teams.

Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid - 1 day onsite per week)
Type: 12-Month Contract
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Work Authorization: Open to eligible candidates authorized to work in the U.S.
