The Glove is seeking an experienced Senior API Developer in Pittsburgh to design, build, and maintain high‑performance RESTful APIs and microservices using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, and related technologies. The role emphasizes scalable backend services, cloud readiness, and enterprise integration, with a focus on API standards, security, and reliability.

You will partner with cross‑functional teams, mentor engineers, and help shape API platforms across on‑premise and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands‑on Java/J2EE development experience – Mandatory.
• 8+ years of RESTful and/or SOAP Web Services experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Spring Boot and Microservices.
• Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Experience with JSON, XML, and Swagger/OpenAPI.
• 5+ years of experience with Git/GitHub, Jenkins, and CI/CD environments
• Hands‑on experience with Kafka.
• Hands‑on experience with IBM MQ.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS or Azure.
• Strong understanding of API design, integration patterns, microservices architecture, and backend development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend components using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop scalable and high‑performance Java/J2EE applications and RESTful services.
• Design and implement APIs that integrate with internal and external client systems.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain microservices‑based applications following enterprise architecture and development standards.

• Perform hands‑on troubleshooting, debugging, deployment, and production support.

• Use DevOps tools such as Jenkins, uDeploy, Git/GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback on design and implementation approaches.
• Review technical/design documents and provide recommendations regarding architecture, approach, effort, and estimates.

• Collaborate with internal and external business, design, architecture, and technology teams.
