Job summary

EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking a Lead Server-side Engineer to shape the Backend for Frontend layer powering mobile experiences used by millions. You will lead design and delivery with a cross-functional team, prioritizing performance, quality, and scalable architectures.

Responsibilities include building Java/Spring Boot services, defining REST contracts, and mentoring engineers while maintaining robust test coverage and efficient CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Java backend development experience.
• Proven project delivery experience in cross-functional teams.
• Advanced Spring Boot knowledge for server-side applications.
• Strong REST API design skills for mobile-facing service layers.
• English at least Upper-Intermediate (B2) proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design the Backend for Frontend architecture for mobile-facing APIs.
• Lead technical decisions and mentor engineers on best practices and code quality.
• Build server-side services in Java using Spring Boot.
• Define and implement REST API contracts that support excellent client experiences.
• Write unit tests and enforce reliable automated test coverage.
• Refactor legacy code to improve maintainability, readability, and safety.
