Job summary

Allstate is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, build, and deliver the next generation of operational claims systems. You will own production applications, shape architectural direction, and partner with engineering, product, and business teams to translate complex needs into scalable, reliable solutions.

You will contribute to the development of modern backend services, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems, using Java, Spring, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development with Java/J2EE.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, Swagger/OpenAPI, and microservices.
• Strong OO design, patterns, and modern software practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.
• Contribute to architecture, development, and operation of microservices.
• Apply clean code, code reviews, and automated testing practices.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production services.
