Job summary

State of Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services seeks dedicated candidates for investigative roles statewide. The positions involve conducting administrative and criminal investigations across multiple locations and require interviewing victims and witnesses, collecting evidence, and producing clear investigation reports.

Responsibilities include handling allegations of misconduct, interviewing subjects, and preparing detailed reports while meeting professional standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Maryland Police Training Commission regulation.
• Two years of investigative work as an Internal Investigation Detective, Provisional; or two years of comparable law enforcement investigative experience in a municipal, county, state, or federal police agency.

Responsibilities

• Conduct administrative and criminal investigations within the DPSCS divisions and units under the supervision of the Intelligence & Investigative Division Director.
• Receive allegations and conduct confidential investigations of criminal activity and serious misconduct allegations.
• Interview complainants, victims, witnesses, and individuals under investigation to gather information using approved interview and interrogation methods.
• Identify and collect physical evidence and report findings related to assigned investigations using standard evidence-collection tools.
• Compose clear, logical, impartial, and properly documented criminal and administrative investigation reports.
