Job summary

HOK is seeking an experienced Interior Designer to lead conceptual and detailed interior design efforts for complex environments. You will coordinate space planning, presentation drawings, documentation, and vendor coordination to meet client goals and budgets.

The role requires a professional Interior Designer with NCIDQ or architectural licensure, and a LEED credential within 12 months. Travel and hybrid work are expected as part of project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design or foreign equivalent.
• 5+ years prior experience as an Interior Designer in a design, architecture, engineering, or planning firm.
• Must be professional Interior Designer and have passed the NCIDQ exam or be a registered Architect with current license required.
• If registered Architect, NCARB registration preferred.
• LEED credential required within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Conducts programming efforts such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, lighting and color coordination.
• Develops innovative design concepts which are practical, aesthetic, safe and conducive to client goals and within budget.
• Implements all phases of a design project including contracts, budgeting, scheduling, planning, design, documentation, specifications and construction.
• Maintains positive client relationships and communicates project progress regularly.
• Leads the Construction Administration phase including RFIs, COs, shop drawing reviews, and field site reviews.
• Manages project using designated systems; creates work plans with team, budget, consultants, and schedule.
• Fosters green design through Integrated Sustainable Design solutions.
• Renders conceptual design ideas and prepares 2D and 3D presentation drawings.
• Coordinates color and material palettes.
• Reviews documents for adherence to codes and ensures coordination with design intent.
• Communicates with consultants, contractors and vendors to ensure information flow.
