Job summary

• Well versed in BIM software such as Chief Architect (preferred) or Revit
• Experience in cabinetry design and ordering are a must
• Ability to visualize / conceptualize design projects and lead a team

Responsibilities

• Meet with potential clients in their homes to discuss goals, services, cabinet line, and take site measurements.
• Create conceptual design, schematic design, space planning, and construction documents from client needs.
• Develop FF&E packages, including fixtures, finishes, and coordinate with dealers and manufacturers.
• Design solutions using Chief Architect and manage design modeling and software.
• Deliver on-time design presentations, mood boards, and renderings and documents for subcontractors/jobsite binders.
• Interact with clients, trades representatives, manufacturers, and sub-contractors.
• Ensure final construction documents are accurate for the team.
• Mentor and manage interior design staff.
• Collaborate with carpenters and subcontractors to ensure viable final outcomes.
• Collaborate on social media and website updates.
• Occasional out of the box projects

Blue Terra Design is a small and agile design, build, and remodel business in Madison, Wisconsin. In addition to our kitchen and bath remodeling projects, we take on a wide variety of projects ranging from custom pieces to light commercial work. If you are organized, detail oriented, have design experience, enjoy working in a creative atmosphere, and want to start each day with a different challenge, you would be a great fit for Blue Terra. We are looking for an Experienced Designer with vision and voice to creatively lead our design team. The ideal candidate has strong communication, multi-tasking and organization skills, prior experience in construction/remodeling, and enjoys the challenge of cabinet design. Experience in Chief Architect is a must.

General duties include (but are not limited to):

• Meet with potential clients in their homes to discuss their project goals, Blue Terra's services, cabinet line, and process, and take site measurements
• Through interviews/meetings interpret client needs to create conceptual design, schematic design, space planning, and construction documents
• Develop FF&E packages, including the specification of plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, tile, cabinet and countertop finishes, and coordinate with dealers and manufacturers to meet client goals and budget
• Design creative and thoughtful solutions tailored to client goals through design modeling and management software, Chief-Architect.
• Deliver on-time client design presentations, mood boards, and renderings as well as documents for subcontractors/jobsite binders
• Professionally interact with clients, trades representatives, manufacturers, and sub-contractors in person, via email, and over the phone
• Ensure final construction documents are updated and accurate to the best of your ability, for yourself and for the team
• Mentor and manage the interior design staff
• Collaborate with carpenters and subcontractors to ensure viability and final outcomes of designs
• Collaborate on social media and website updates
• Occasional out of the box projects

REQUIREMENTS

Pay ranges from $35.00 - $40.00 per hour and is commensurate with skills and/or qualifications.
