Integration / Software Engineer

Core4ce is seeking a highly capable Integration / Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of system integrations and automation in support of the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Data Governance program. The ideal candidate will build APIs, services, and integration components that enable metadata harvesting, repository ingestion, synchronization, and data exchange across heterogeneous systems, ensuring secure and reliable integration aligned with program architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement system integrations and interfaces in accordance with architectural guidance.
  • Build and maintain API services, connectors, and automation scripts to support:
    • Metadata harvesting
    • Repository ingestion
    • Data synchronization and updates
  • Implement metadata exchange mechanisms, including field mappings and schema alignment.
  • Support exception handling, retry logic, and error management for automated processes.
  • Collaborate with Chief Architect to align with architectural standards, Systems Engineer to ensure correct system behavior and workflows, DevSecOps Engineer to support deployment, logging, and monitoring, and ISSO Engineer to ensure secure integration patterns.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical working sessions.
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, and defect resolution across integration components.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and implementation artifacts.
  • This position is designed to be flexible, with responsibilities evolving to meet business needs and enable individual growth.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or Integration Engineer supporting Federal IT programs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and interoperability frameworks (e.g., FHIR, HL7, OMOP, ICD-10) and experience operating in health IT data environments.
  • Strong hands‑on experience designing and implementing:
    • RESTful APIs
    • Data integrations and service interfaces
    • Backend services and automation scripts
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following:
    • Python, Java, or similar backend languages
    • SQL and data transformation techniques
  • Demonstrated experience integrating heterogeneous systems and data sources.
  • Experience working in secure, RMF‑governed environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid Agile/Waterfall execution models.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with architecture, systems, data, security, and DevSecOps teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting Federal programs.
  • Active Secret clearance preferred.
  • Defense Health Agency (DHA) or health IT experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience integrating enterprise data platforms, repositories, or catalogs.
  • Familiarity with fixed‑price, milestone‑based Federal contracts.
  • Experience operating within ISO 9001 / ISO 20000 / ISO 27001 process environments.
  • Experience supporting federated or enterprise data exchange models.
  • Familiarity with metadata management, data catalogs, or governance platforms.
  • Exposure to health data systems, analytics platforms, or enterprise reporting environments.
