Pima County is seeking an Instrumentation and Process Control Manager I to lead SCADA/PLC architecture and optimize wastewater treatment operations. The role requires directing a technical team, managing automation projects, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in SCADA, instrumentation maintenance, and data analytics to improve performance and reliability across a municipal facility. This is a full‑time position in Arizona.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, chemical engineering or related field with four years of process control experience.
Alternative: seven years of instrumentation/SCADA supervision in a related setting with leadership.
Documentation of education and experience in the application is required.

Responsibilities

Leads instrumentation, control system, and automation projects from planning through budgeting and implementation.
Directs and evaluates automation staff; mentors a high‑performing technical team.
Oversees SCADA/PLC networks, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
Provides high‑level troubleshooting for SCADA/PLC issues to ensure reliable operations.
Establishes best practices for alarm management, remote monitoring, and reporting.
Evaluates operations data to identify issues and drive corrective actions.
Implements new automation technologies to improve performance and capabilities.
