Job summary

EnergyX is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement instrumentation and control systems for industrial applications. You will work on PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, P&IDs, and data visualization, ensuring safety and compliance across projects.

The role requires 5+ years in IC engineering, proficiency with Ignition and major PLC brands, and travel up to 25%. A BS in engineering is required, with NFPA 70E training mandatory.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of instrumentation and control engineering in an industrial setting.
• Proficient in PLC programming across major brands.
• Experience with Ignition server commissioning, PLC communication, tag historian, and HMI design.
• Knowledge of OPC UA and Modbus communication protocols.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• NFPA 70E electrical safety training is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and build E&I and control systems, including panel wiring, PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA integration.
• Develop instrumentation specifications and selection criteria for projects.
• Create and review P&IDs and control schematics.
• Develop data visualizations from MySQL databases in Ignition, Grafana, or similar.
• Conduct FAT and SAT for control systems.
• Integrate control systems with existing infrastructure and ensure seamless operation.
• Perform commissioning, sensor addition/validation, and motor wiring.
• Prepare project documentation including control narratives and user manuals.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
