Job summary

Total Security Solutions is seeking an experienced Lead Installer from our Fowlerville, MI shop to guide on-site field crews, read blueprints, and oversee fit‑and‑finish quality on barrier installations. The role requires hands‑on leadership, precise craftsmanship, and ensuring safe, efficient operations across travel‑heavy projects.

You will travel up to 75% of the time, lead a small crew, and collaborate with customers and general contractors to deliver projects that meet our standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of carpentry or construction experience with a sharp eye for fit, finish, and detail.
• 2+ years of field leadership leading a construction or contracting crew.
• Experience operating heavy machinery and Hi-Los safely (certification preferred).
• Ability to travel up to 75% of the time (typically up to twice per month for 5–10 days at a time).
• Strong communication skills with an ability to manage customer relationships on-site calmly and professionally.
• Valid Chauffeur’s license with a clean driving record, working knowledge of DOT and ELD logging requirements (or willingness to train).
• Ability to lift 80+ lbs, climb ladders, work in tight spaces or at heights, and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Direct a team of up to 4 installers on-site—setting the pace, assigning daily tasks, and enforcing OSHA safety best practices.
• Serve as the primary, trusted point of contact for customers and general contractors on-site from start to finish.
• Work side-by-side with your crew to measure, cut, fasten barrier components, read blueprints, and operate heavy machinery, including Hi-Los.
• Perform punch lists, inspect final fit‑and‑finish quality to satisfy the TSS Standard of Excellence, and collect sign-offs.
• Lead daily DOT pre-trip inspections, manage ELD hours, keep track of job site materials, and report daily progress back to management.

• Ability to lift 80+ lbs, climb ladders, work in tight spaces or at heights, and stand for extended periods.
• OSHA 10/30 certifications, shop experience, or contractor background are a plus.
• Based out of our Fowlerville, MI shop when not traveling in the field.
• Requires up to 75% overnight travel (all travel expenses covered).
