Qualifications

• Possession of a valid Registered Nurse license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing or the ability to obtain prior to start.
• Minimum of two (2) years' nursing experience as an acute care RN, in the Mental Health Unit, with at least one (1) year of leadership/charge experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign employees daily to perform nursing tasks based on skills and patient needs; set priorities and redirect as needed.
• Oversee nursing staff and supervise care, including medications, IVs, and equipment setup and regulation.
• Verify nursing tasks and physician orders are completed and properly charted; ensure compliance with policies.
• Review and evaluate employee performance; counsel staff and interpret policies.
• Interpret nursing philosophy, goals, policies, and safety/visiting procedures to staff, patients, and visitors.
• Serve as unit liaison and resource nurse-in charge.
• Assess patient conditions and coordinate referrals and patient-centered planning.
• Investigate and answer questions from physicians, patients, and visitors about patient care.
