Job summary

Currier is seeking a Tooling Engineer to lead the design, build, and qualification of production and prototype plastic injection molds. You will work with customers and vendors to ensure mold performance meets specifications, manage budgets, and drive project timelines.

The role requires strong knowledge of mold design, 3D CAD, and plastics part design, with experience in supplier coordination and tooling validation. A collaborative, detail-oriented engineer will excel in this position.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of mold design principles and tool design review activities.
• Analytical/troubleshooting skills with mechanical aptitude.
• Detail-oriented and accurate.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities, including presentations.
• Strong computer application skills.
• Solid understanding of Plastic Part Design / Injection Molding Guidelines.
• Proficient with 3D CAD and data analysis software (SolidWorks preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage mold design reviews and documentation.
• Obtain vendor quotes, issue POs, and review vendor proposals for mold performance.
• Review customer drawings and specifications to determine requirements and feasibility.
• Manage project budgets and schedules and report to Project Management.
• Create drawings, layouts, calculations, and documentation using 2D/3D CAD.
• Collaborate with toolroom, scheduling, and production teams on tooling projects.
• Support tooling trials, validations, and troubleshooting for mold quality.
• Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams on tooling issues.
