JPMorganChase in Plano, TX seeks a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to shape the future of our network. You will apply deep optical transport knowledge, design end-to-end circuits, and lead projects across DWDM/OTN platforms while leveraging AI to accelerate infrastructure analysis.

Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Experience using enterprise AI capabilities within the work environment with validation habits.
  • Ability to review AI-assisted recommendations and ensure resiliency, security, and auditability.
  • Knowledge of data centers, racks, patch panels, DC power.
  • Deep knowledge of optical transport technologies including ROADM, OTN, coherent optics.
  • Lead network infrastructure projects end-to-end with testing and handoff.
  • Automation experience (Python) and working with APIs/data formats.
  • Knowledge of optics standards, wavelength planning and turn-up methods.
  • Strong communication and documentation; comfortable with on-call rotation.

Job description

As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Network Connectivity Services team, you apply deep knowledge in optical transport technologies, fiber infrastructure, and end to end circuit design within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Continue to evolve your technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of your aligned domain of expertise.

Job Responsibilities
  • Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate infrastructure analysis and design documentation, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • Applies reuse-first, AI-assisted practices within delivery and automation routines to identify recurring issues and validate remediation options, ensuring changes are traceable/auditable and aligned to resiliency and security expectations.
  • Drive the optical transport network workstream by designing, deploying, operating, and configuring transport services (DWDM, ROADM, 400G OTN), including monitoring and troubleshooting performance (alarms/PMs).
  • Coordinate projects to deliver installs, turn-ups, migrations, and decommissions while owning change execution and documentation in accordance with change control policies.
  • Provide L3/L4 escalation support and participate in an on-call rotation for production incidents, lead major-incident RCAs, and drive preventative actions.”
  • Maintain runbooks/KBs and test acceptance procedures, perform capacity planning, and manage platform lifecycle HW/SW upgrades.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support infrastructure engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalating when uncertain and ensuring outcomes align to resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
  • Knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as data centers, racks, and patch panels , DC power
  • Deep knowledge across optical transport technologies and platforms, including ROADM, ILA, coherent optics, Waveservers, Ciena 6500, and OTN.
  • Proven ability to lead/own network infrastructure projects end-to-end, including acceptance testing and operational handoff
  • Automation experience (e.g., Python) and working with APIs/data formats
  • Deep knowledge of optics standards, wavelength planning and optical test/turn-up methods (e.g., OTDR, BERT).
  • Strong communication and documentation skills; comfortable with change, incident processes and on-call rotation.

  • Hands-on troubleshooting across optical Layer 1 and IP Layer 3 (as applicable).
  • Deep understanding of fiber characteristics, optics/modules, DWDM, OTN, and optical AMPs.
  • CCNA (or equivalent) with good knowledge of routing/switching fundamentals.
