Lead Infrastructure and Operations Engineer

Overview

The Lead Engineer, I&O serves as a senior technical resource, responsible for guiding diverse teams through the complexities of various domains which may include networking, database, cloud solutions, and other technical areas. This role applies visionary technical leadership to ensure seamless integration of technical tasks with departmental and organizational objectives. The role also involves mentoring engineers, identifying efficiency opportunities, and supporting the resilience and continuous delivery of new capabilities within Healthfirst’s infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with management to shape and implement technology strategies across infrastructure and database domains.
• Provide technical guidance during the design, development, and implementation of database solutions.
• Identify improvement areas and champion solutions proactively.
• Ensure database practices align with company vision through interdepartmental relationships.
• Mentor team members, emphasizing current technologies and best practices.
• Design scalable, robust solutions to meet business needs.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and promote industry best practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical degree or equivalent work experience (high school diploma or GED acceptable).
• Senior enterprise experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redshift, MySQL, DynamoDB, etc.
• Experience with AWS Cloud, Unix/Linux, Windows.
• Ability to maintain database documentation, data standards, and procedures.
• Experience supporting and integrating on-premises and cloud database services.
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices and least privileged access models in AWS.
• Experience with system health monitoring and performance optimization using tools like CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Splunk, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert-level experience with enterprise databases and configurations.
• Experience supporting Oracle VLDB databases with DataGuard, GoldenGate.
• Proficiency with cloud-native applications, Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Ansible, Terraform).
• Strong troubleshooting skills involving logs, network traces, and automation tools.
• Experience in regulated/high-security environments (PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST).
