The Role
This Lead Information Security Engineer operates in a supportive role within the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), which operates 24/7/365. The role involves security event management, monitoring, detection, triage, and handling security alerts. It also includes managing client requests for the Lumen Managed DDoS product, acting as shift lead, mentoring team members, and supporting escalation processes.

This is a remote opportunity open to candidates anywhere in the U.S.

Main Responsibilities

• Perform complex changes in the managed security environment
• Manage and resolve customer faults, outages, and impairments
• Monitor, triage, and respond to security alerts
• Research and implement customer change requests
• Generate incident reports and escalate as needed
• Support installation and maintenance of security infrastructure
• Provide technical solutions and develop new tools
• Mentor and train SOC personnel
• Maintain excellent customer service skills
• Multi-task during security events
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders
• Collaborate with other teams
• Manage tickets efficiently

Candidate Requirements

• 5-7 years in Security Operations
• Certifications in security technologies (e.g., Fortinet, Arbor, Palo Alto, Cisco, Checkpoint)
• Understanding of DoS attack vectors and mitigation
• Networking skills including BGP troubleshooting, packet analysis, and policy management
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Python)

Certifications (Examples)

• CISSP, CRISC, CISM, Security+, CCNA, CEH, ITIL Foundations
