Job summary

Shamong Manufacturing, a precision sheet metal fabrication shop, seeks an experienced Industrial Painter to lead our coating operations in New Jersey. Manage the paint shop, apply coatings, and coordinate with production to ensure texture, finish quality, and compliance with defense industry requirements.

Requires 5+ years in industrial painting, strong surface prep skills, film thickness testing, spray booth operation, and prior supervisory experience in an ITAR-regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years industrial painting experience.
• Proficiency with surface preparation standards.
• Experience with wet/dry film thickness measurement tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of spray booth operations and paint mixing procedures.
• Supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment; ITAR facility requirement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation and masking of parts for industrial coating applications.
• Mix paints and coatings to precise specifications.
• Apply coatings with proper texture and finish quality.
• Perform wet and dry film thickness testing to ensure specification compliance.
• Troubleshoot coating defects and implement corrective measures.
• Coordinate with production scheduling and quality assurance.
• Assist and train paint shop staff in technique and production.
• Manage paint and supply inventory.
• Maintain quality standards and documentation for defense contract compliance.
