Job summary

Emerald Resource Group is seeking a Critical Care Physician to lead hour-by-hour ICU care, stabilizing critically ill adults and directing resuscitation, airway management, and source control with decisive leadership.

You will supervise rounds, coordinate goals of care, and ensure same-day decisions. Night/weekend coverage and resident teaching are integral to the role, with emphasis on measurable ICU improvements.

Qualifications

• Board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine (pulmonary, anesthesia, surgery, or emergency medicine pathway).
• Active, unrestricted medical license and current ACLS; procedural competence in airway, central access, and bedside ultrasound.
• At least two years of independent ICU practice, or fellowship with primary responsibility for ventilated/shock patients.
• Proven ownership of outcomes with measurable improvements in ICU metrics.
• Comfort leading nights and multidisciplinary teams without hierarchy.

Responsibilities

• Stabilize critically ill adults within the first hour of arrival via resuscitation and airway management.
• Direct resuscitation, airway control, and source control; reduce preventable ICU complications.
• Lead multidisciplinary rounds to produce a same-day plan for goals of care, weaning, and disposition.
• Communicate major changes with families and referring clinicians the same day.
• Cover nights, weekends, and surge without gaps in senior decision-making; perform procedures as needed.
• Improve at least one unit metric each year (length of stay, mortality review, throughput).
• Teach residents, APPs, and nurses at the bedside to ensure continuity when off shift.
