Job summary

Greenleaf Hospitality Group seeks a Lead Ice Technician to oversee ice operations for Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo and support the transition to the Kalamazoo Event Center. You will manage installation, maintenance, and staff, ensuring high-quality ice surfaces for events.

The role requires leadership, hands-on expertise, and strong collaboration with facilities and event teams, with a flexible schedule for nights/weekends as events dictate.

Qualifications

• Certified Ice Technician preferred but not mandatory.
• At least two years operating an ice resurfacer.
• Experience supervising multiple employees.
• Solid knowledge of ice operations and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service.
• Ability to collaborate in a team and adapt tasks.
• Flexible schedule and physical ability for maintenance tasks.
• Capable of working in cold environments and possessing a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Education preference for degree beyond high school.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ice installation, maintenance, and removal to NCAA/ECHL standards.
• Manage ice resurfacing operations, scheduling, and training.
• Develop and implement operating procedures for ice surfaces.
• Maintain records of ice conditions, maintenance, and equipment service.
• Record gameday Field of Play data and submit reports.
• Lead ice operations staff including full/part-time personnel.
• Learn building automation programs related to refrigeration/HVAC and maintenance logs.
• Coordinate with maintenance and external contractors on projects.
• Provide ongoing safety and technical training per OSHA and venue policies.
• Maintain inventory of tools and materials and manage rink equipment upkeep.
• Schedule preventative maintenance and stock parts.
• Coordinate across departments and handle other duties as assigned.
