Job description

Data Intelligence, LLC (DI) is searching for a Lead System Administrator – IBM Mainframe Administrator in Washington, DC. The Lead IBM System Administrator will oversee the administration, configuration, and optimization of a complex IBM z/OS mainframe environment. This role requires deep expertise in mainframe infrastructure, system software, and operational tools, with leadership responsibilities for managing system performance, availability, and security. Familiarity with a broad range of mainframe software—including CA ENDEVOR, DB2, CICS, and VA Java OS/390 V2 Compiler—is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the administration and support of IBM z/OS systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Manage and maintain a diverse suite of mainframe software including:
  • CA ENDEVOR, Easytrieve, IDMS, DB2, CICS, WebSphere, and WebFOCUS
  • Pitney Bowes document and mail management tools
  • Connect:Direct, Hourglass, Smartcrypt, and other system utilities
• Oversee system upgrades, patching, and configuration management.
• Provide leadership in system monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with application developers, database administrators, and security teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Support hybrid environments involving VA Java OS/390 V2 Compiler and Java-based components.
• Maintain system documentation, enforce operational standards, and ensure compliance with federal IT policies.
• Mentor junior system administrators and provide escalation support for complex issues.

Required Skills/Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in mainframe system administration, including IBM z/OS.
• Deep knowledge of mainframe tools such as CA ENDEVOR, DB2, CICS, and IDMS.
• Experience with system automation, job scheduling, and performance monitoring.
• Familiarity with VA Java OS/390 V2 Compiler and Java integration in mainframe environments.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with WebSphere, MailStream Plus, and Pitney Bowes tools.
• Knowledge of PSF, GDDM, XL C/C++, and batch-to-CICS integration.
• Background in federal or public sector IT environments, especially USDA systems.
