Job summary

Honda Logistics North America, Inc. is seeking a Systems Design Architect Lead (1st shift) to drive system analysis, architecture, and modernization across enterprise platforms.

This role focuses on designing and integrating applications, leading SDLC activities, and delivering scalable, secure tech solutions in a fast-paced logistics IT environment. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in IT, strong RPG/CL/SQL experience, and hands-on IBM i/AS400 expertise, plus familiarity with Agile methods

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent IT experience.
• 10+ years of progressive IT experience in systems analysis, application development, solution architecture, and enterprise systems support.
• Proven experience leading system design, architecture, integration, modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.
• 10+ years proficiency with RPG, RPGLE, CL and SQL related technologies.
• Experience with IBM MQ, FTP, iSeries Navigator, IFS.
• Experience with IBMi IWS and RESTful/SOAP web services.
• Experience in data integration between enterprise applications and platforms.
• Experience with change management tools (Aldon, Implementer, Turnover).
• Experience in impact analysis tools (Hawkeye, Abstract).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver scalable, secure solutions.
• Logistics/WMS/manufacturing environment is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform system analysis and solution design for new applications and enhancements.
• Lead modernization and continuous improvement initiatives across enterprise apps.
• Develop, test, and debug programs per specifications.
• Build applications per architecture and detailed design.
• Design and implement data integration between systems.
• Develop test plans and validation strategies for system quality.
• Prepare technical specifications, user manuals, and system documentation.
• Provide production support and troubleshoot system issues.
• Coordinate and support production deployment and continuity.
• Tackle AS/400 performance issues via job logs and metrics.
• Engage in SDLC activities and Agile practices for scalable solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and org policies.
