Job summary

Actalent in Houston, TX is seeking an I&E Designer to lead electrical and instrumentation drafting for petrochemical facilities. The role emphasizes power distribution, coordination across disciplines, and delivering on-schedule project deliverables.

The position requires deep industrial electrical expertise, strong CAD skills (2D AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, CADWorx, ElecDES) and leadership of a small design team. 15+ years in the field and an engineering tech/ CAD degree are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial electrical and instrumentation drafting.
• Knowledge of NEC and electrical design standards.
• Ability to lead a small design team and manage tasks.
• Ability to develop equipment specs for 480VAC and 15kV/5kV equipment.
• Ability to produce accurate installation documents from vendor drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed electrical design tasks for lighting and power.
• Route conduit/cable tray and calculate fills.
• Determine MCC and load center loading for distribution systems.
• Create electrical installation documents from vendor drawings.
• Develop equipment specs for high/medium voltage equipment.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines for integrated layouts.
• Forecast hours and track project schedules and staffing.
• Lead a small team of designers and drafters.
