Job Description Summary

The I&C (Instrumentation & Controls) Embedded Software Engineer works within the I&C Engineering team of the GE Hitachi (GEH) Engineering organization. The I&C team is responsible for designing and implementing I&C electronic hardware and software for I&C systems for Nuclear Power Plants. The I&C software team interfaces with electronic hardware design and plant system operations. This role requires technical problem solving, strong software skills, and effective communication and collaboration with other teams within GEH.

Responsibilities
  • Develop creative solutions and reduce complexity to create accurate and effective solutions for complex engineering problems.
  • Prepare design specifications, develop software, perform module and integration testing, and conduct code reviews and verifications of design specifications and reports.
  • Engage with customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
  • Work with the technical leader to establish work plans, including time and schedule estimates, requirements, and processes.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals and principles to confirm expected performance.
  • Provide clear analysis documentation following GE engineering procedures.
  • Manage time effectively to deliver quality work within deadlines and communicate status to leadership.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of experience in embedded software development, including knowledge of programming languages and development tools (Version control, IDEs, Debuggers).
  • At least 5 years of experience with coding standards, unit testing, and integration testing.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Preferred location is GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; highly qualified remote candidates within 200 miles of Wilmington will also be considered.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information, contingent on obtaining necessary authorization from the U.S. Government.

Additional Information

The salary range is $86k - $112K, influenced by experience, education, and skills. The role is eligible for bonuses and benefits including healthcare, retirement plans, tuition assistance, and more. The position is remote with relocation assistance available.
