Lead I&C Software Support Engineer (Remote Eligible, U.S.)

Job Overview

The Lead I&C (Instrumentation & Controls) Software Support Engineer works within the I&C Engineering team of GE Hitachi (GEH) Engineering. The team designs and implements electronic hardware and software for I&C systems in Nuclear Power Plants. This role demands technical problem-solving, strong software testing and development skills, and effective communication and collaboration with other teams within GEH.

Responsibilities

1. Deliver high-quality engineering software, including development and deployment of specialized Software Test tools.
2. Configure, maintain, and improve the Software Development infrastructure (DevOps).
3. Perform Unit/Module and Integration testing of Software packages supporting I&C deliverables.
4. Develop solutions to complex engineering problems, reducing complexity and increasing accuracy.
5. Prepare specifications, reports, and documentation throughout the Software Lifecycle.
6. Conduct Code and Documentation reviews, verification activities.
7. Work with technical leadership to establish work plans, including estimates and requirements.
8. Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and communicate progress to leadership.
9. Engage with customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
10. Manage multiple priorities effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering from an accredited university.
• At least 5 years of experience in software testing, development, and deployment.
• Minimum of 3 years experience with coding standards, unit, and integration testing.
• Experience with Static Analysis and Unit Testing tools like LDRA, and development infrastructure such as GitLab.

Additional Requirements

• Preferred location is at GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC, but qualified remote candidates within 200 miles will be considered.
• Must have the ability to access U.S. export-controlled information; final employment contingent on obtaining necessary authorization.

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of programming languages (C, C++, Python) and development tools.
• Ability to solve technical challenges using design patterns and data structures.
• Experience with coding standards like MISRA, CERT-C, BARR-C.
• Leadership experience and excellent communication skills.
• Proactive learner and promoter of new tools and improvements.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $99,000 – $140,000, with potential bonuses and geographic differentials. Benefits include health coverage, retirement plans, tuition and adoption assistance, paid parental leave, disability, life insurance, and paid time off.
