Job summary

GEL Engineering in Charleston, SC, seeks a hydrogeologist or environmental scientist to join our team of professionals delivering environmental and engineering services nationwide. The role focuses on project management related to wastewater regulations, contaminant investigations, infrastructure environmental assessments, remediation projects, and permitting and compliance.

You will manage proposals, work plans, and client reports, lead field activities, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary

Qualifications

• BS or MS in geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering or related field.
• A North or South Carolina Geologist license is required.
• Eight years of professional environmental experience, with at least three supervising investigation/remediation.
• RSM in NC DEQ program is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS 365 and Deltek or similar project tracking software.

Responsibilities

• Lead project management activities: proposals, work plans, reports, and team supervision.
• Prepare problem statements, scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop site assessments and remediation plans.
• Review technical reports and ensure high quality deliverables.
• Communicate findings internally and to clients; liaise with regulatory agencies.
• Provide technical support and QA/QC for groundwater, soil, and PFAS investigations, regulatory permitting and compliance.

Education

BS or MS in geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering or related field

SC/NC Geologist license

RSM certification (NC DEQ RENP) a plus

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Testifying expert witness capability a plus

Proficient in MS 365 and Deltek
