Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks an HVAC Mechanic II to install, maintain, and repair heating, cooling and steam equipment in Dallas, onsite 100% of the time. The role operates on a 7:30 AM–4:00 PM schedule, Monday through Friday, with responsibilities spanning complex diagnostics, repairs, mentoring staff, and coordinating with vendors as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, or Vocational School.
• Experience: 3 years in operation and maintenance of large HVAC systems, with proficiency in at least 3 systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex diagnostic HVAC repairs and serves as lead mechanic on projects and system issues.
• Diagnoses root cause of problems in HVAC systems and informs supervisory personnel of issues, taking appropriate action.
• Repairs HVAC systems and components to meet campus heating and cooling needs.
• Works with vendors/contractors to obtain quotes and ensures proper repairs.
• Supports after-hours or extended projects and responds to emergencies to resolve safety concerns and equipment failures.
• Trains and mentors new personnel in codes and proper tool use; assists in field tasks.
