Elmar Heating & Cooling, based in Timonium, Maryland, is seeking a Lead HVAC Installer to manage residential installations from start to finish in the Greater Baltimore area. You will lead a crew, install central air, furnaces, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits, and ensure compliance with manufacturer specs and local codes.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of residential HVAC experience, EPA Universal Certification, and the ability to read wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Lead residential HVAC installation projects from start to finish.
• Install/replace central AC, gas furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers.
• Install ductless mini-splits (single- and multi-zone).
• Oversee helpers and trainees with hands-on direction.
• Perform startups, commissioning, and system testing.
• Troubleshoot installation issues (electrical, refrigerant, mechanical).
• Read wiring diagrams and manufacturer specs.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Lead HVAC Installer, you'll be responsible for managing residential HVAC installations while ensuring every system is installed safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer specifications.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead residential HVAC installation projects from start to finish.
• Install and replace central air conditioning systems, gas furnaces, heat pumps, and air handlers.
• Install ductless mini-split systems, including single-zone and multi-zone configurations.
• Oversee installation helpers and junior technicians, providing direction and hands‑on training.
• Perform equipment startups, commissioning, system testing, and final quality checks.
• Troubleshoot installation challenges and make sound technical decisions in the field.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, installation manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
• Ensure installations meet local building codes, safety standards, and company quality expectations.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners and provide a positive customer experience.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites.

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands‑on residential HVAC installation experience.
• Proven ability to independently lead residential HVAC installations.
• Strong experience installing conventional split systems, heat pumps, air handlers, and gas furnaces.
• Experience installing and commissioning ductless mini-split systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, and mechanical installation issues.
• EPA Universal Certification.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and follow manufacturer installation requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to perform the physical duties of residential HVAC installation, including lifting equipment and working in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoor environments, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, or similar ductless heat pump systems.
• Boiler installation experience.
• Tankless water heater installation experience.
• Light commercial HVAC installation experience.
• Previous experience supervising installation crews or training apprentices.
