Job summary

GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions NAM region seeks a Senior Electrical Substation Project Engineer Manager to lead multi‑discipline teams in HV/EHV substation design, ensure schedule and budget, and coordinate with vendors and customers. The role covers the full scope of HV/EHV substation design and acts as the technical lead across engineering projects.

The position requires a BS in Engineering (or MS with 10+ years) and up to 20% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in industrial or utility High Voltage (+138kV) substation design, or a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with +10 years of relevant experience.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% (including international) in compliance with company travel and tax policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of AC power substation projects; self-perform design when needed.
• Serve as the primary technical lead for scheduling, standards compliance, value engineering, and design reviews.
• Develop and oversee key design deliverables: power single-line diagrams, general substation layout, high‑voltage bus, structures, and detailed arrangements.
• Act as single point of contact for technical matters between customers, vendors, project managers, and engineering teams.
• Direct and support engineers and designers to meet specifications, budget, and timelines (including sub‑contracted resources).
• Drive cross‑discipline coordination to deliver fully integrated substation solutions.
• Review proposals and deliverables: conceptual engineering, BOMs, technical specs, sourcing support, and clarifications.
• Lead HV equipment specifications and contractor work scopes; may lead subcontracted design work.
