Job summary

Intuitive Surgical seeks a Human Factors Design Engineer to advance usability and safety of robotic systems, partnering with product, engineering, regulatory, and clinical teams to shape user requirements and interfaces through formative research and hands-on design work.

You will lead usability studies, translate findings into design inputs, develop prototypes, and de-risk concepts while ensuring regulatory compliance and design controls.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' relevant industry experience.
• Excellent technical communication and business acumen.
• Experience with human-robot interaction and complex robotic systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead formative research in robotics and HRI to uncover unmet needs.
• Represent Intuitive during studies with clinicians and customers.
• Translate research into actionable design and product strategy.
• De-risk designs focusing on usability, safety, and performance.
• Define usability inputs and manage design documentation per regs.
