The City of Wentzville is seeking a Senior Horticulture Technician to lead and perform advanced horticulture tasks across parks, facilities, and gateways. You’ll supervise crews, develop maintenance plans, and ensure high-quality landscape care, including irrigation and tree health, while coordinating with external contractors.

Ideal candidates have five years in tree/landscape work, leadership experience, and relevant certifications or the ability to obtain them within 180 days.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience in tree care, landscaping, or irrigation maintenance.
• Two years in a leadership role preferred.
• Certifications or license within 180 days: MDA Applicators license Category 3 Ornamental and Turf; Certified Arborist; Class B CDL with airbrake endorsement; First-Aid/CPR.

Responsabilités

• Train, guide, and direct crew members in daily maintenance tasks and equipment operation.
• Develop maintenance plans for beds, trees, irrigation, and facility grounds.
• Oversee irrigation systems installation, maintenance, and repairs.
• Manage vendor/contractor activities for landscape renovations.
• Ensure safety and quality control across all landscaping projects.
