Job summary

The State of South Carolina, through the Department of Transportation, seeks an experienced supervisor to plan and oversee daily maintenance activities. The role requires managing crew schedules, coordinating with law enforcement for traffic control, and ensuring safety in work zones.

You will train staff in heavy equipment operation and maintain daily HMMS records. Emergency response during adverse weather and incidents is expected, with after-hours availability.

Qualifications

• Three and a half years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• CDL required within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement the daily work schedule for the crew.
• Determine equipment, materials and labor needed to complete daily work.
• Coordinate with law enforcement for traffic control to ensure a safe work zone.
• Supervise and ensure safety in work zones and during flagging operations.
• Train and instruct personnel in heavy equipment operation and safe construction practices.
• Maintain daily records and submit HMMS inputs and vehicle inspection reports.
• Respond to emergencies after hours, including storms, accidents and spills.
