Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Highway Engineering team in Toledo, OH. You will contribute to highway/roadway design, assist with plans, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with project managers to ensure quality, cost, and schedule adherence.

Required: a civil engineering degree, EIT, 5+ years in highway design, and MicroStation/OpenRoads experience. DOT/Civil 3D experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• 5+ years' experience in highway/roadway design.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required; PE license preferred.
• MicroStation, Geopak/InRoads and current OpenRoads experience is required.
• Civil 3D and DOT experience is a plus.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities

• Apply broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices in highway/roadway design.
• Independently evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
• Assist project managers and technical leads in developing highway and traffic design plans.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of codes, provisions, and standards including MUTCD and AASHTO guidelines.
• Prepare complete project documents independently.
• Analyze and interpret data, formulate and solve problems.
• Assist with scopes of work, budgets, and schedule meetings.
• Serve as a mentor and technical advisor to engineers and senior engineers.
• Organize and perform field investigations/site visits as needed.
• Perform engineering calculations and create cost estimates.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, clients, and colleagues.
• Meet schedule, budget, and quality goals set by project managers.
