Job summary

Qualifications

• 1. Ability to guide and develop student growth in all areas of performance, research, and competitive strategy.
• 2. College degree.
• 3. The ability to drive students to competition sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Teach students the various forms of speech; including the theories and skills underlying the various competition events.
• Meet with students on a regular basis throughout the school year.
• Stay informed on rules, procedures and judging standards for speech events.
• Set practice/behavior standards required for students to participate in the program and enter tournaments.
• Book tournament travel arrangements, including transportation and lodging.
• Coordinate student and judge entry, and supervise and judge at weekend and evening tournaments.
• Communicate regularly with parents through multiple mediums (email, text, Facebook, etc.).
• Assess strengths and weaknesses of the program to improve it from year to year.
• Maintain open and ongoing communications with school administration.
• Submit reports (with student evidence) and activity checklists to building and district administration as requested.
• Attend district-wide meetings as requested.
