  • Set practice/behavior standards required for students to participate in the program and enter tournaments.
  • Book tournament travel arrangements, including transportation and lodging.
  • Coordinate student and judge entry, and supervise and judge at weekend and evening tournaments.
  • Communicate regularly with parents through multiple mediums (email, text, Facebook, etc.).
  • Assess strengths and weaknesses of the program to improve it from year to year.
  • Maintain open and ongoing communications with school administration.
  • Submit reports (with student evidence) and activity checklists to building and district administration as requested.
  • Attend district-wide meetings as requested.

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 3. The ability to drive students to competition sites as required.

BASIC FUNCTION:

This position is responsible for teaching students the various forms of speech, including the theories and skills underlying the various competition events. They will build and lead a team of students through regular speech contests, schedule all practices and coordinate travel arrangements. They serve as the head speech coach and provide oversight to the speech activity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
