New Brunswick Public Schools in New Brunswick, NJ seeks an Assistant Band Director for the 2026-2027 school year to plan and organize marching band instruction, design and execute the season's field show, and teach drumline and percussion techniques. Under the supervision of the principal, you will blend drill writing, music arranging, and marching instruction to maximize student learning.

Rehearsals run August 17–21, 9:00–1:00, and August 24–28, 9:00–5:00, with games, parades, and community

Qualifications

• Knowledge of marching band instruction including drill writing, drill teaching, music arranging, marching techniques and percussion.
• Experience designing and executing a show for the marching season.
• Ability to collaborate with consultants and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and arrange shows appropriate to instrumentation.
• Collaborate with consultants and volunteers to ensure exemplary instruction.
• Prepare students for field shows and parade marching.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and modify methods accordingly.
• Complete paperwork including field trip forms and transportation forms.
• Maintain calendar and communicate with students, parents, and administrators.
• Attend and perform at designated school and community events.
• Acquire quotes for materials and music required for student success.
• Maintain accurate records of grading and attendance.
• Encourage parental involvement and effective communication.
• Ensure student conduct aligns with district policies.
• Requisition instructional aids and maintain inventory.
